The Energy World exhibition in 1986 was vitally important in leading the way for energy efficiency improvements in housing and was a worthy successor to HomeWorld 81. The walk will be led by Tim Skelton, who was heavily involved in the exhibition.

Milton Keynes was at the forefront of pushing the boundaries to increase the energy efficiency of housing design, beginning with the construction of the country’s first house to be heated by solar power in Bradville in 1974. Other developments followed with the culmination being the Energy World exhibition held in summer 1986. Over fifty houses were built and participants had to demonstrate that their houses were 33% more efficient than those designed under the then current Building Regulations.
