“Superpower Hobby Horse Mini Marathon” Children’s Heritage Fun Run of Courage, Imagination and Hope
Meeting point by Sul Lago restaurant, Shirwell Crescent, Furzton Lake, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK4 1GA
Organised by Ukraine Appeal in partnership with Parks Trust, the “Superpower Hobby Horse Mini Marathon” is an imaginative family event where children explore heroism, memory and hope through creativity, movement and play.
The event combines a fun-filled hobby horse race day with children’s own interpretations of superheroes and special powers. Each child is invited to arrive with a handmade or decorated hobby horse inspired by a chosen “superpower” - such as kindness, bravery, protection, friendship, hope, wisdom, healing or courage. Every horse becomes a symbolic hero reflecting how children understand strength and goodness in their own unique way.
Inspired by themes of courage, gratitude and remembrance, the event invites children and families to explore what heroism means through their own imagination and perspective. Young participants are encouraged to interpret heroes in their own special way - through kindness, bravery, friendship, hope and the celebration of life itself.
The marathon creates a space where memory is preserved not through sadness alone, but through laughter, movement, creativity and togetherness. The event honours the courage and sacrifice of defenders whose actions helped protect families, freedom and the future of younger generations. Through this experience, children transform remembrance into something living and hopeful.
All participating children will receive a brand-new blue or yellow event T-shirt as part of the experience.
