Everyday Heritage: An Audience With The Crew
Happisburgh Lifeboat Station, Cart Gap Road, Happisburgh, Norfolk, NR12 0QL
This special ticketed event will be held in our lifeboat station at 19:30hrs on Tuesday 15th September 2026. Members of the crew will be on hand to look in detail at some of the things we do, and how we do them. With a history of saving lives at sea stretching back to 1810, some 14 years before the RNLI was formed, Happisburgh's contribution to safety at sea is both fascinating and, at times, inspirational. During the evening, we will be revisiting some of the rescues carried out from our station in previous years, along with looking in detail at the capabilities of our Inshore Lifeboat and what that means to people enjoying our coast today. Visitors to this event will enjoy an interesting evening in the company of long-serving crew members, current shore and sea-going crews. For centuries, all around our coast, everyday people have been dedicating thier time to the local lifeboat, and everything that goes with that. You can hear first hand what it takes to be on the lifeboat crew now and what it was like when our station started its inshore lifeboat service over 60 years ago. Find out from the people who volunteer to go to sea in what can be very challenging weather, as they continue a long tradition of aiding seafarers who find themselves in difficult conditions and situations.
During the evening, light refreshments will be available.
As with all RNLI visits, our offering is subject to operational circumstances permitting.
