Somerset Heritage Centre
At the Somerset Heritage Centre we care for millions of archive documents, dating from the 11th century to present day and more than 3 million museum objects.
Join us at the Somerset Heritage Centre and uncover the people behind the archival records through a programme of bite-sized lightning talks, and discover stories of Somerset residents from across the centuries. Explore a special tabletop display of original documents revealing remarkable glimpses into everyday lives.
Our friendly and knowledgeable team will also be on hand throughout the day to showcase the wealth of research resources available at the Heritage Centre and help you start uncovering stories of your own.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Heritage Open Day without our popular behind-the-scenes archive tours. Step inside the archive strongrooms, normally closed to the public, and discover how Somerset’s documentary heritage is preserved for future generations.
