Look Up! explore heritage and find hidden gems in Cleethorpes' town centre!

This Look Up! Tour is about looking beyond the ground floors of our buildings because upper floors are less likely to have been altered over the decades. So, by looking at their original styling we can explore the history of buildings, their stories and very often, the artistry and embellishments by early craftsmen. But please be careful when ‘looking up’ – you may find you need to take extra care when walking.

Limited numbers of paper-based Guides will be available at Cleethorpes Town Hall (Cambridge Street) and Resort Information Office (Central Promenade.

This Guide starts at Cleethorpes’ current railway station, as if you arrived at the station, and takes you around the town in a clockwise direction ending at the original station buildings alongside Platform 1. However, you could start and end at any point in the guide’s instructions………..

Paper-based Guides for tour will be availble at various points in Cleethorpes during Heritage Open Days. Digital guides will also be accessible from our website www.grimsbycleecivsoc.com. Online, there will also be available 'Supporting Information' which is not necessary to the tour, but can be read beforehand, during, or afterwards.

This self-guided walking tour is mostly within the main town centre streets requiring the usual care and attention regarding other pedestrians, pedestrian crossings and road junctions and traffic. There will be plenty of opportunity for refreshment and toilet facilities during the Tour but the variety and opening hours will be dependent on the day and time chosen.

Additional information

This self-guided tour can be completed at any time. A digital download of the route will be available on the Grimsby, Cleethorpes & District Society website, or you can pick up a paper version at various points around town. This self-guided walking tour is a 'sister/brother/sibling' to a similar tour for central Grimsby.
