Once home to familiar faces like Mrs Bellamy and Mr Bailey, the High Street bustled with local shops at the heart of daily life. We’re bringing those stories back through displays celebrating the people and places that made Wombwell special.

Curious about the bustling businesses of Wombwell High Street? Join the Friends of Wombwell Cemetery for a fabulous showcase of who sold what and explore the lives of those who kept the High Street humming with eager shoppers!

The Friends work hard to keep the memories of Wombwell alive, including the amazing people who made Wombwell what it is today. Once again, the group will have displays and information to shout about the fantastic people of Wombwell, this time focusing on nearby Wombwell High Street, covering everything from Dook Butchers to Barkers Bakers, to Adamsons watchmakers.

The chapel will be open to view, database available to find your family and ancestors, and we'll stick the kettle on so you can have a brew, too!
