Friends Meeting House Open Day

Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 1AF

  • 13 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Come and discover the long and fascinating history of Brighton’s Quaker Meeting House. Built in 1805 and extended in 1876 it remains the home of the Quaker community established in Brighton in the 1650s.

We will display some of our old Quaker documents and books. Along with pictures and artefacts.
Members of the Quaker meeting will be present to welcome visitors and answer queries. The meeting house is primarily the Quakers' place of worship and the centre of a lively community. Visitors can discover the hardships the first Quakers experienced when the group was established in 1655 and how the building has been extensively used to serve the wider local community for over two centuries.
