History of Langley Vale

Bourne Hall, Spring Street, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 1UF

  • 19 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

The earliest mention of Langley was in the charter of 1225/35. It had two large fields and was a settlement (with several tenants) owned by the de Langley family. Over the years land ownership changed, and the village has developed.

The village has a long association with the racing industry and Epsom Racecourse. Many trainers set up training stables within the village and by the 1950s there was as many as 15 training stables in Langley Vale.

Discover the engaging story of the village at Angela Clifford’s talk.

Angela is the co-editor of ‘Langley Vale – Memories of a Surrey Village’ - produced by Langley Vale WI for the millennium.
