Betjeman once described Teversal Village as a 'rural oasis' in the former 'coal producing area on the Notts - Derby border'. As part of our weekend celebrating the rich history of the area, we will be leading a guided walk around the local area, to explore its rich heritage and its literary links to the famed book Lady Chatterley's Lover.
This guided walk will take you through the countryside that inspired Lawrence. We will highlight potential sites that resemble those described in the book, such as the Manor thought to have inspired Lawrence's Wragby Hall and likely influenced his decision to make Sir Clifford Chatterley a wheelchair user, as well as other sites of interest.
This event is free, but if of interest there is a booklet that can be purchased for £3 about the Lady Chatterley Walk. We meet at St. Katherine's Church to start the walk at 10.30am on Sunday 20th.

The Lady Chatterley Walk is approx. 3.5 miles. It is of mixed surfaces and moderate gradients and is of moderate difficulty. There are two stiles to climb over and a bank to climb up, which is also of moderate difficulty.
Additional information
Alongside the walk, the church and neighbouring Manor Room will be open to visitors on the 18th, 19th and 20th, with displays, information and stories about the history of the area and its working people. On Friday, there will be a talk on the village's links to D.H. Lawrence.
