Local Historical Societies Exhibition & Talks

Appleby Archaeology will have display boards and some of their local finds and the Cumbria Vernacular Buildings Group will have some interesting information about our local buildings.

Black and white boards will also be on display throughout the room, with photographs from the Appleby-in-Westmorland Society’s archives.

Talks include:
1100 Who do you think you were? An introduction to what you can (and can’t) find out in genealogy through DNA.

1300 Genealogy 101
An introduction to researching your family history. (From 2pm - 4pm there will be an opportunity to do some additional research into your family history with Andrew at Courtyard Gallery. He has years of experience and will be able to give you some 1-1 help!)

1400 The Archaeology of Appleby - The recent work of the Appleby Archaeology Group and what’s next!

There is on street parking in the centre of town and, and suitable disabled parking next to the building. There is a disabled toilet on site.

Additional information

Parking in the centre of town is disc display for 2/3 hours, depending on signage. Discs available from TIC and most shops. There is also a free car park on Holme Street, which is well sign posted.
