Open Day - Victoria Hall, Saltaire
Victoria Hall, Victoria Road, Saltaire, Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD18 3JS
Victoria Hall is at the heart of Saltaire World Heritage Site. Its ornately decorated main hall, gymnasium and meeting rooms have hosted events since 1871. Titus Salt gave this building to encourage educational and leisure pursuits for local people. Today, the Salt Foundation promotes wider use of Victoria Hall, working with Shipley College as its managing agent. On this open day you'll find:
- displays about the Hall's history and current activities
- music from the Wurlitzer organ which rises from below the main hall stage
- tours of the Wurlitzer mechanism
- Saltaire Swans demonstrating skills learned in very popular adult ballet classes
- Ascendance workshops about creativity and health
- the start of a community orchard and wildlife garden created by Veg on the Edge
- information about weddings at Victoria Hall
- Salt Foundation trustees interested in your ideas about more uses for the Hall
- tea, coffee and biscuits
