Weoley Castle, Alwold Road, Birmingham, West Midlands, B29 5RX

  • 14 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking preferred

A short walk and talk around the area of Weoley Castle Ruins and the disused Lapal Canal.

Weoley Castle Ruins is an ancient monument protected by law. It is surrounded by a 1930’s municipal housing estate modelled on the nearby Bournville. A ‘Garden Cities’ inspired estate. The disused canal has a fascinating history.

Light refreshments included.

This is a pushchair friendly walk around the perimeter of the ruins and beyond with a non-alcoholic glass of elderberry fizz, nibbles and juices for the children on the return journey.

Part of the walk will be along a main road, Alwold Road. There are slight slopes and it could be a little muddy under foot. There will be four or five steps but electric wheelchairs can retrace a route to rejoin the group.
