Quakers 1935 to '55. How we used to live.

The exhibition is about the differences between how people lived during the war years and after- and how we are living nearly a century later. We have collected various artefacts and pictures from those days that may be of interest to the public. Life was very different then. Most Quakers believe that we shouldn't fight and kill other people so there were many conscientious objectors in the second world war. Some managed to find something to do as an acceptable alternative, such as working with the Friends Ambulance Unit. For others it was more complicated.
We are also offering refreshments possibly including the famous Tottenham Cake.
Come and have a browse and enjoy some refreshments!

- Opposite the bottom entrance to Butt Lane Car park. Red brick building set in burial ground. Disabled parking. There is room for 2 cars but it is not always possible to access the entrance owing to cars parked on the road opposite. It's easier with a small car! Disabled parking very near in Butt Lane Car Park.

Apart from the exhibition this gives a chance to come and look round the Quaker Meeting House and talk to the Quakers running the event.
