Thomas Plume's Library: Everyday Working Lives in Early Modern England
Thomas Plumes Library, Plume Building, Market Hill, Maldon, Essex, CM9 4PZ
Through law books, instructional texts, sermons, political works, and biography, this exhibition builds a picture of professional lives in the 16th and 17th centuries. From the Elizabethan sailor, to the Restoration-era constable, it will explore daily work experiences and the role of individual trades in wider economic systems. Learn the difference between a yeoman and a husbandman, or about the medicinal work of a rector's wife from Essex.
