Come and visit a Georgian treasure on the outskirts of the city of Plymouth this Heritage Open Days for free.
The House
Overlooking the River Plym and set in a rolling 18th-century landscape, the house is full of treasures, stories and intrigue to discover.
Garden
Complete with 18th-century sweeping lawns, an ancient lime tree avenue, exotic planting and garden follies, the garden offers layers of history, planting and tranquillity to be explored.
The Estate
Rare survival of a working 18th-century estate, including farmland, beaches, salt marshes, meadows, woodland and an estuary, perfect for family walks, cycling and exploring with four legged friends. From summer 2026 A new 2.5km multi-use trail will be ready to explore. Funded by Sport England and the National Trust, the new paths connect with Saltram’s existing path network, providing a wide, smooth route suitable for wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, walkers and cyclists.

Travelling south (from Exeter): exit from A38 is signed Plymouth City Centre/Plympton At roundabout take third exit for Plympton following the brown signs for Saltram. Travelling north (from Liskeard): leave A38 at Plympton exit. From roundabout take first exit to Plympton, following brown signs for Saltram. Sat Nav: Enter 'Romilly gardens'

Accessibility details
Accessible and disabled parking available. There are level paths in garden suitable for wheelchairs. All-terrain tramper available to book, please email [email protected] to book. Audio induction loops are in place in the cafe and the Welcome centre. There are adapted toilet/baby changing at the Stables and a disabled toilet in the Park cafe. Dogs are welcome in the gardens but not into the house or historic buildings. We have BSL trained staff onsite that can assist you at Saltram, please email ahead to [email protected] to arrange support for your visit.
