A tour of Scammonden Activity Centre to learn how a derelict Grade II listed house and barn were converted into a Scout residential centre. There will be a photographic presentation and detail about the work carried out in 1985-87.

New Hey Farm dates from at least 1693. It was a working farm until Scammonden Reservoir was built in the late 1960's when it was compulsorily purchased. It was unused and becoming gradually derelict until 1985. Huddersfield South West District Scouts then acquired a long lease on the property from Yorkshire Water Authority and began a major building and restoration project. The result was Scammonden Activity Centre, a residential hostel which is used by youth, charity and educational groups.
