A free exhibition showing some of the 80 or more mansions and large country houses lost to Norfolk in the past 150 years.

An exhibition held in 1973 at the V&A and subsequent book ' The Destruction of the Country House' (Roy Strong, Marcus Binney & John Harris) identified 27 major country houses that had been lost to Norfolk.

'The Country Houses of Norfolk - The Lost Houses' (David Clarke - 2008) put the figure at 54. A soon to be published sequel brings that list to nearer 80 - these being mansions in this county often within parkland and approached via lodges and now erased from the landscape.

This exhibition, to be held upstairs at The City Bookshop, will have on display photos, engravings, sale catalogues of all these sad losses to Norfolk.
