This year's exhibition will display early modern books that illuminate the lives of ordinary working people.

Through law books, instructional texts, sermons, political works, and biography, this exhibition builds a picture of professional lives in the 16th and 17th centuries. From the Elizabethan sailor, to the Restoration-era constable, it will explore daily work experiences and the role of individual trades in wider economic systems. Learn the difference between a yeoman and a husbandman, or about the medicinal work of a rector's wife from Essex.
