Tour the Tower

Climb the 27 spiral stone steps to the ringing chamber of the West bell tower before continuing up to the bell chamber where you’ll discover a remarkable set of five bells with a history stretching back to the 14th century. For those wishing to see the church clock, there is the added adventure of climbing a ladder to view it!
This fascinating, behind the scenes tour offers a unique glimpse into the engineering, craftsmanship and history hidden high above the church.
Please note: Access to the tower is via steep narrow, spiral stone staircases. The tour is therefore not suitable for anyone with claustrophobia, a fear of heights, limited mobility or those who may find climbing difficult.
For your safety, sturdy, flat footwear (such as trainers or walking boots) must be worn. Open-toed shoes, sandals and high heels are not permitted, and anyone wearing unsuitable footwear will unfortunately be unable to take part in the tour.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for climbing ladders and navigating restricted spaces.
Due to the nature of the tour, places are strictly limited, booking is essential.
Children over 10 are welcome, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
The tower of the church is only open to the public during Heritage Open Days.
