Do you love trees? Join Trees Together South Yorkshire in Sheffield Winter Gardens for an exhibition around the science and culture around trees across the region and on the 19th and 20th be part of creating a walking forest!

South Yorkshire has a rich tree and woodland heritage, and Trees Together is working to ensure trees continue to benefit people for generations to come. The project is led by Professor Jill Edmondson and Dr Paul Brindley at the University of Sheffield, managed by Catherine Nuttgens and funded through the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures.

It brings together researchers, practitioners, and regional partners including the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), Treeconomics and Nuttgens Urban Forestry. We want to identify opportunities to maximise the environmental, social, and health benefits that trees provide and guide future investment and decision-making across the region.

The project includes:
- Knowledge exchange workshops to understand opportunities for partnership improvement and growth in South Yorkshires Forests
- 3-30-300 mapping and scoring for every residential building that closely identifies where trees could be planted and access to green space could be improved.
- Storymap analysis of the treescape across the region and a costed overview for the deliverable benefits of the region's trees
- Events in Rotherham, Barnsley Doncaster and Sheffield to help start conversations about trees.
- Showcasing the work of University of Sheffield's Urban Tree Observatory

Using evidence, partnerships, and community engagement we aim to create a healthier, greener, and more resilient South Yorkshire
