A new talk by Dr Michael Johnson, Assistant Professor in Design History at Northumbria University, looking at the life and work of Durham Cathedral Draughtsman, W.G. Footitt

Join us for a new talk exploring the life and work of W. G. Footitt (1865-1936), a talented draughtsman who served as senior assistant to the prominent architect Charles Hodgson Fowler. A skilled artist with a passion for antiquities, Footitt also produced meticulous drawings to enhance the publications of the region's leading archaeologists. His personal diary will soon be published by the Surtees Society. Drawing upon this unique primary source and never-before-seen drawings, sketches and photographs, this richly illustrated talk reveals the talents of an expert draughtsman and illuminates the intersection of art, architecture and archaeology.
