Explore Skipton's High Street yards and find out about the workers and businesses they housed.

Like many market towns Skipton has old yards and yard buildings off the High Street. From nail-making to oatcake-griddling, shoemaking to newspaper printing, butchering to hatmaking, for several hundred years the yards were hives of activity. Our popular and regular tour guide Sue Wrathmell is a Conservation Area expert who will draw on Skipton Civic Society's community project and its Ginnels and Yards leaflet to tell you about some of the businesses and workers that occupied the yards.
