Heritage Tours of Jesmond Old Cemetery
Jesmond Old Cemetery, Jesmond Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, NE2 1NL
Join the Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery on one of our heritage tours, where we visit some of the final resting places of the famous, and not so famous, men and women who had a creative impact and influence on the North East and beyond.
Newcastle has always been a place of great creativity, contributing so much to the world at large, and our HOD tours this year are a tribute to some of those who did so much to help Newcastle, and the wider North East, to 'punch above its weight', particularly in terms of architecture, arts, industry and invention. So, as we meander through this beautiful garden cemetery, our friendly, experienced tour guides will take you to the graves of John Dobson, Thomas Oliver, Julia Darling, Sid Chaplin, Joseph Wilson, Thomas Miles Richardson, William Rea, Christopher Thomas Maling, the Dodds sisters, Thomas Hall Tweedy and John Philip Robson, to name but a few, where their lives and creative legacies will be explored.
This event took place in September 2023 and the entry is now archived.
