Cradled in a beautiful Cotswold valley rest the remains of one of the grandest Roman villas in Britain.
Chedworth Roman Villa was rediscovered by the Victorians over 150 years ago. Leading the way in archaeology and conservation, Chedworth is coming towards the end of an exciting five-year summer excavations programme.
A modern conservation building provides exceptional access to the extensive mosaic floors, hypocaust systems and bathhouse rooms. And a small museum houses a range of finds and artefacts from the villa.
As well as all this, the tranquil setting, idyllic views and rich wildlife haven gives plenty of opportunities for walks, relaxation and reflection.
Maybe treat yourself to something delicious in our small café, serving sandwiches, cakes, snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice-cream. Or you can visit our shop which offers Roman -themed souvenirs, books and games, as well as seasonal plants and gifts.

Directions
Follow brown signs to ‘Roman Villa’ from A429. From M5, Midlands or Oxfordshire follow A40 to Northleach roundabout (intersection of A40 and A429), then go south on the A429, turning right off the A429 just past Northleach to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’. From M4, Swindon or South West, head to Cirencester, then go north on the A429, turning left at Fossebridge to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’. NB: Make sure to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’, not to ‘Chedworth’, to avoid Chedworth village (which is some way from the Roman Villa). Please note that there are currently no signs from any other approaches (e.g. A417 or A40/ A436 via Withington). Therefore unless you have a sat nav or a detailed map of the area, it is strongly advisable to approach by the A429 following the brown signs.
