Holy Trinity Church was the first Catholic Church in the country to be built openly and publicly, on the main road from London to the North after the Reformation.
Fr. James Egan, a dynamic Irishman, began planning the church as soon as the Catholic Emancipation Act was passed in 1829; building started in 1832 and was finished in 1834.
Booklets giving a full history of the Churhc in Newcastle before the Reformation, and of Holy Trinity Parish, are available for sale on the day.

Holy Trinity Church is situated on the A34, just off the roundabout near to Morrison's supermarket and No 1 London Rd. flats (p. blue - very visible)
Entry to the carpark is left on Grosvenor road, just after the church and parish centre.
