Take a few steps through history by entering a medieval doorway and climbing 54 ancient steps, (passing a unique stone urinal) to see the RINGING ROOM with its Victorian clock, an Edwardian Ellacombe frame, eight 2lst-century ropes and some earlier graffiti. Continue up a wooden flight of 20 stairs, noticing the pendulum of the old clock hanging on the wall, to the BELFRY to see a fine set of Georgian bells, Pack and Chapman fecit London 1774, in a 1920s metal frame, and look up to see the inside of Tudor candle-snuffer spire.
Do not expect nice views of Knaresborough, alas the Victorian church improvers blocked-off the windows!
Listen to a guided tour, explanation and demonstration and take the opportunity to sound a bell.
