Step back in time and discover how the first humans lived in our local UNESCO Geopark over 800,000 years ago to the present.
Learn about climate change and how it affected the lives of the Neanderthals and come face to face with some of the animals that roamed the area, including Mammoths, Hyenas, Woolly Rhinos and Cave bears on our free guided tours.
Handle objects from our Quaternary collections including Human and animal skulls and bones, flint tools , furs and pottery.
Visitors can create their own Stone- age clay pots and cave art using natural pigments and join us for storytelling around the fire.
Suitable for all ages.
This event is free to all visitors-all we ask in return is that you spread the word about our wonderful Museum and amazing collections.

Torre Abbey will be offering free entry on 21st and 22nd September as well as free tours daily - these can be pre booked or will be offered on a first come first served basis on the day.
This year for Heritage Open Days, Torre Abbey Museums is throwing open the doors to our house and gardens, giving everyone free entry to this multi-award-winning tourist attraction. That means you can explore all four floors of our heritage house, including interactive displays, fantastic art work and endless children’s activities for free. Plus you can go outside and explore the stunning gardens, complete with historic ruins, the Agatha Christie Potent Plants Garden and our amazing palm house, which turns 50 this year. Not only that, we will also be offering three free tours a day at 11am, 1pm and 3pm (pre bookable). On Sat 21st we will also have members from the Torquay Pottery Collectors Society on hand to answer questions on their new exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you to Torre Abbey Museum and all we ask in return is that you spread the word about Torbay’s most unexpected and unmissable visitor attraction; a hidden gem in the heart of Torquay.

Directions: Only a few minutes walk from the train station. Blue Badge parking only on site however parking can be found immediately next door at the back of the Riviera Centre.
