This church was greatly restored in the 14th century and has many interesting features. The belfry dates from the same time and will be open on the day. There will be people ready to answer questions and provide details.

Friends of Rectory Park History Walk Thornhill

Huddersfield Parish Church of St Peter
St Peter's is II* listed and dates from 1836. There are elements from the 16C building with later Georgian features. There is work by the renowned architect Sir Ninian Comper and some interesting stained glass windows. Guided tours are offered.

King James's School
There has been a school on this site since 1547. From 1608 until 1974 it was a boys' Grammar School. It is now a flourishing mixed comprehensive school. Some of the buildings still in use date back to 1750.

Shelley Methodist Church and Museum
This beautiful old chapel, little changed from when it was built during the life of John Wesley, and visited by him in 1788, it is still used for weekly worship. An extension added in 1882-3 for a boiler room and vestry now houses the village museum.
