Conservation in a world of Consumption

Headstone Manor, Pinner View, Harrow, Greater London, HA2 6PX

  • Multiple dates available
  • | In person
  • | Pre-booking required
  • | Walk / Tour

Do you love IKEA shopping or book hauls? From easy, inexpensive ways to protect your photos, to storing your coats during the winter, join us in September to learn about our conservation projects and how you can care for your objects.

Ever taken a picture with an instant camera? Micro trends, fast fashion and new technology shape how we buy and use things. Cheap alternatives are on the rise, but with the right care, they can last for years. For those of us concerned with how to make things last, understanding the long-term dangers to our objects is key.
Museums are tasked with the conservation and preservation of objects for future generations. But even we have challenges to overcome. From past over-collecting, to controlling our environments, we have a few things to share on how to protect and care for objects.

Tours will be 1 hour long:
30 mins tour of OS1 and presentation of the project
30 mins in the office on preserving collections and Q&A
