Heritage and Photography Walk - Bradwell Windmill to Milton Keynes Museum
Meet at Bradwell Windmill, Nightingale Crescent, Bradville, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK13 7JH
Join Nicky Kenny (Wolverton resident, heritage walk leader, plants fanatic and photographer) for a relaxed and gentle two mile linear stroll, taking in and taking pictures of the history and heritage in the North Western edge of Milton Keynes. The walk will begin at Bradwell Windmill, which is just over two hundred years old, where you can explore and take pictures of the exterior of this historic stone building. The walk will then stroll along the redway, once a section of the old Wolverton to Newport railway line, before joining the Grand Union canal, past the train mural and on into Wolverton’s Secret Garden. The walk then crosses Stratford Road to explore an area (and the sculpture) of Wolverton that was redeveloped in 2009 and is home to the Royal Train Shed, a listed building, and the site of a historically significant sports ground which was once home to Wolverton Town Football Club and is now a park for local residents. The walk will then continue through part of the railway town of Wolverton before arriving at Milton Keynes Museum, which tells the story of MK before the city was planned and developed through interactive and hands on exhibits. The walk is suitable for adults and families. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No photography experience needed. Camera phones are suitable. Nicky will give some composition tips and support on the day for taking pictures as well as heritage information along the route.
