Join members of the Land of Oak & Iron Story team to learn more about its vision for an improved heritage experience at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill.

With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Map Room at the Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre will soon be transformed into a modern heritage interpretation room. The new features, including interactive technology and touch screens, will be accessible for people of all ages and abilities, enabling access for all to a vast array of research and resources held by the trust and discovered during the original Land of Oak & Iron Landscape Partnership project.

The Land of Oak & Iron Story programme is running from June 2026 for 2 years and aims to refocus the spotlight on the area's rich and fascinating heritage. Groundwork NE&C is supporting The Land of Oak & Iron Trust and other key partners to engage with the public and empower local communities to volunteer and get involved, exploring the area's rich heritage and landscapes through a range of educational and cultural initiatives.

This event provides an opportunity for those interested in the Land of Oak & Iron Trust’s vision to come and meet the team, see the space, discuss the proposals, and find out more about volunteering to help the Trust deliver its mission.
