The visit is to an amazing eco-friendly, 21st century house and garden built on a difficult site. The self-built house was the subject of a “Grand Designs” television programme and architectural awards.

The house was designed by its owners to be a family home on an affordable, but difficult, small site squeezed between a railway line and the busy A29.
The story of the build, the unexpected difficulties the owners encountered and their solutions was the subject of the much loved Grand Designs television programme and associated books - is perhaps a masterclass in what 'thinking outside the box' can produce!
The leaflet on the house, its courtyard garden and the red double decker bus workshop will be backed by experiences of the owners who are your on-hand guides can tell you much more about what you see and the history of the buildings creation. You can also watch a replay of some of the “Grand Designs” programme about the house and its creation.
