There's so much heritage to enjoy in Penistone, but today is about St John the Baptist Church, Penistone, South Yorkshire - a fantastic Grade 1 Listed Church which also the 'home' of football, dating back to the 13th century.

An interactive exhibition of mill working lives at the former Washpit Mills

Visit this surviving Victorian colliery site. Sunk for Earl Fitzwilliam in the 1840s as Elsecar Low pit, working the Barnsley seam until 1920 when it was converted into a pumping station and survived the closure of the industry. Run by volunteers.

Holmfirth's former church lock up or jail.

This beautiful old chapel, little changed from when it was built during the life of John Wesley, and visited by him in 1788, it is still used for weekly worship. An extension added in 1882-3 for a boiler room and vestry now houses the village museum.

A Grade II* Listed building, designed by Sir Basil Spence, is open with refreshments available throughout the day. There'll be talks at 11am and 1pm by Dr. Louise Hampson from York Uni about St Paul's Church and its links with Coventry Cathedral
